Reflections from Taipei: PKF Asia Pacific Gathering 2025

The 2025 PKF Asia Pacific Gathering in Taipei exceeded expectations. Over four days, we connected with colleagues from across the region, exchanged ideas, and explored the future of our network. All while enjoying a very different but vibrant & interesting city.

As Managing Director of PKF Sydney & Newcastle, I was especially proud of the strong contribution made by our PKF Australia team throughout the program.

Our very own Steve Meyn, Chair of PKF Australia, played a prominent leadership role once again, opening the event with a warm welcome and setting the tone for what proved to be a forward-focused gathering. His insights during the Board strategy session on growth and M&A were a standout, as was his closing reflection that captured the energy and unity of the entire AsPac community.

Lana Weldon, our National Chief Operating Officer, was another key contributor. Her dual sessions on enhancing client experience and navigating global talent challenges brought meaningful, practical takeaways for all firms. Lana reminded us that what truly sets us apart is the way we deliver for clients and nurture our people. Lana’s presence in the "Unlocking Connections" session also reinforced the importance of collaboration across borders.

From PKF Digital, Don McLean and Craig Traub led insightful sessions on how Cloud technology and AI are transforming how, and what we need to, audit. Their practical examples showed the power of innovation in our service lines and why PKF must remain at the forefront of digital change.

Jim Allenby, from PKF Parvate, shared an excellent update on the evolution of Sustainability services, spotlighting Australia’s leadership in ESG and our strategic joint venture. With mandatory sustainability reporting now law in Australia, his session was timely and packed with actionable insight for the region.

Tony Corry from our Brisbane office delivered a gripping presentation on the commercialisation of cybercrime, offering a clear view of emerging risks and how we, as advisers, must guide our clients through a complex threat landscape.

Becky Nguyen from our Melbourne office joined the panel on cross-border collaboration, contributing to the conversation around new ways to serve global clients.

The conference closed with renewed energy and a shared commitment to growth, quality and impact. And, the announcement that the 2026 conference will be held in my home city, Sydney! We look forward to hosting our leaders from the Asia Pacific region and showcasing the wonders of our great city.
