Driving sustainable impact in the communities where we live and work

For a professional services firm, community impact can take many forms. Sometimes it is financial support. Sometimes it is volunteering, fundraising or creating opportunities for community organisations. And sometimes, the most valuable contribution we can make is using our professional skills and expertise where they are needed.

Across PKF Australia, our approach brings these different forms of support together. Through PKF Impact, our firms and people contribute to charities, not-for-profit organisations and community initiatives across Australia through fundraising, volunteering, community partnerships and pro bono and low bono professional support.

“I believe businesses have a responsibility to create a positive impact beyond their commercial success, and PKF Impact is how we channel our collective energy, resources and expertise towards initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives,” says Jonathan Hannah, Chair, PKF Impact and Corporate Finance Principal, PKF Sydney.

Our FY2026 Impact Sustainability Report brings that work together at a national level, providing a clearer picture of how our people and firms are contributing to the communities where we live and work.

Turning good intentions into measurable community impact

Community involvement has long existed across individual PKF firms. PKF Impact gives us a national framework through which we can bring greater focus to community engagement, volunteer programs and social impact projects, while continuing to support the causes that matter to our people.

The scale of that contribution becomes clearer when we look beyond individual events or donations.

During the reporting period, PKF firms supported 89 charities, contributing 2,519 hours with a reported value of $930,050. A further 31 clients received pro bono or low bono support, representing 197 hours and $195,012 in professional services. Combined, that represents support for 120 organisations and clients, 2,716 hours and $1,125,062 in value.

Those figures matter because community impact is not limited to financial donations.
For charities and not-for-profit organisations, access to professional skills can also be valuable. Pro bono and low bono engagements provide another way for our people to contribute, alongside financial support, volunteering, fundraising and longer-term community partnerships.

Supporting charities and not-for-profits in different ways

There is no single model for making a positive community impact, and the initiatives taking place across our network reflect that.

Some relationships have been built over more than a decade. Others respond to needs within our local communities. Some involve fundraising, while others draw directly on the skills and experience of our people.

Four initiatives highlighted in our Impact Sustainability Report show what that can look like in practice.

Breast Care Breakfast: 19 years of community support

The PKF Breast Care Breakfast began nearly two decades ago following the loss of the wife of one of our partners to breast cancer. Today, the annual Hunter-region fundraiser supports the Hunter Nurse Education Group and the education and professional development of breast care nurses. In October 2025, more than 450 people attended and $68,299 was raised, adding to more than $380,000 raised through the event since 2006.

Variety: Sharing skills with future leaders

PKF Melbourne's relationship with Variety – the Children's Charity demonstrates a different form of community support. Alongside previous audit and assurance services and longstanding donations to the Victoria Bash, the team has supported Variety's Future Leaders Program by providing facilities and sharing practical expertise in areas including financial literacy, budgeting, résumé writing and interview techniques. PKF Melbourne has now supported four programs.

zero2hero: Investing in young people's mental health

In Western Australia, PKF Perth donated $10,000 to zero2hero, a charity focused on improving young people's mental health and wellbeing and helping prevent suicide. The funding supports the organisation's education, leadership and wellbeing programs. During 2025, zero2hero supported more than 66,000 young people across Western Australia through school programs, camps and events.

Assistance Dogs Australia: A partnership spanning more than a decade

PKF has supported Assistance Dogs Australia for more than 11 years, backing an organisation dedicated to breeding, training and placing accredited assistance dogs with people who need them, free of charge. In 2026, Assistance Dogs Australia marked 30 years of operation, with more than 200 accredited assistance dogs supporting Australians living with physical disability, children with autism, veterans and first responders experiencing PTSD.

Supporting the broader not-for-profit sector

These four stories are only part of the community work taking place across PKF Australia.

Our firms support a wide range of charitable, community and not-for-profit organisations across Australia, spanning areas including health, education, sport, First Nations communities, housing, emergency services, disability support and youth services.

What connects these relationships is not a single cause or a single form of support. It is the recognition that businesses have resources that extend beyond financial contributions.

For an accounting and advisory network, that includes the professional capabilities of our people. Pro bono and low bono services, financial education, knowledge sharing and professional expertise provide different ways for us to support purpose-driven organisations alongside fundraising, donations and volunteering. In addition, many of our partners, directors and staff serve as directors of for-purpose organisations, dedicating their personal time to strengthening the governance and financial acumen within these organisations.

It is why community impact forms an important part of PKF Australia's broader approach to sustainability rather than sitting separately from it.

PKF Impact and our approach to social sustainability

PKF Impact was established nationally to lead initiatives that drive positive change within PKF firms and the broader community. Its work aligns with the social pillar of ESG and touches all of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Alongside our charity partnerships, community investment and pro bono and low bono support, initiatives during the reporting period included the launch of PKF Australia's Reconciliation Action Plan, cultural awareness training for every team member,a national Employee Assistance Program and Diversity Council of Australia membership.

Our people also participated in initiatives and events including NAIDOC Week, International Women's Day, Pride Month, R U OK? Day, World Kindness Day and many other significant days and events.

Together, these initiatives reflect a broader view of social sustainability: how we support our people, how we contribute to the communities around us and how the expertise and resources available across our network can be put to good use.

Creating lasting impact through our communities

The stories in this article are only part of a much broader picture.

Our 2025–2026 Impact Sustainability Report brings together PKF Australia's work across community engagement and social impact, environmental impact, governance, people and development, diversity and inclusion, and sustainable growth. It provides greater detail on the charities, not-for-profits, community organisations and initiatives supported by firms across our Australian network.

For us, driving impact in the communities where we live and work means looking at what we can contribute and recognising that contribution will not always look the same. It might be funding. It might be time. It might be professional expertise, a long-term partnership or creating an opportunity for an organisation to do more.
