PKF invites you to make October pink, powerful, and full of purpose

In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, PKF is proudly “going pink.” The highlight of the month-long initiative will be the much-anticipated annual PKF Breast Care Breakfast, to be held on Thursday, 16 October at NEX. This inspiring community event brings together clients, colleagues, and the broader community in support of the Hunter Nurse Education Group (HNEG), raising vital funds for Breast Care nurses caring for individuals with breast cancer in the region.

“Breast cancer impacts so many lives in our community, and the work of the Hunter Breast Care nurses truly makes a profound difference,” said Bob Bell, Managing Director at PKF Sydney and Newcastle. “By going pink this October, we’re not only shining a light on the cause – we’re reaffirming our commitment to ensuring these essential services remain accessible for all who need them."

Last year’s impact

In 2024, over 450 people attended PKF’s 18th annual Breast Care Breakfast, which raised an impressive record-breaking $60,726. The funds went directly toward breast care education days and events for Hunter nurses. These essential training sessions are provided free of charge and have been proven to enhance knowledge and skills, positively influence behaviours and attitudes, and improve clinical outcomes for patients.  This year, due to the overwhelming level of funds raised, the event has funded 14 education and travel grants, providing nurses in the Hunter with opportunities to extend their knowledge and skills beyond their day-to-day roles.

Casey Hutchinson, Calvary Mater Transitional Nurse Practitioner, said, “This valuable community support enables us to deliver care precisely when patients need it most. We sincerely appreciate PKF and the community for their generous full sponsorship of the Hunter Nurse Education Group. Thanks to their impactful partnership, we can offer customised education and training to Breast Care nurses in the Hunter Region, helping them enhance their expertise and engage in nurse-led research. Well-informed, skilled, and confident nurses can operate at the highest level of their practice, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.”
