Richard Cai is an experienced Partner in PKF’s Sydney Business Advisory team, helping businesses navigate complexity, manage growth, and achieve their strategic objectives. His expertise spans taxation, business structuring, financial and tax governance, commercial strategy, and business expansion.
Richard has extensive experience across the banking and finance, property and construction, retail, funds management, and technology sectors, and has developed a particular focus on the automotive industry, advising vehicle manufacturers, distributors, and dealer groups operating within the Australian market. Known for his collaborative and hands-on approach, his personal experience, commercial insight, and technical expertise enables him to understand the businesses he advises from both an operational and financial perspective.
He has worked extensively with international automotive brands entering and expanding their presence in Australia, supporting management teams through the financial, taxation, and operational challenges of establishing and scaling local operations. Richard currently advises new vehicle OEMs seeking to establish and grow their Australian operations. Most recently, he led the PKF team to secure a significant automotive industry engagement following a competitive tender process against Big Four firms, further strengthening PKF’s credentials within the sector.
Richard’s broader client portfolio includes ASX-listed companies, international enterprises, large private groups, family businesses, and high-net-worth individuals. He has served as an external adviser to a property fund with more than $1 billion in gross assets across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and has also provided outsourced CFO services to emerging technology businesses.
