Growing up and working in a family that owned various meat processing and butchering businesses, Dean learnt first-hand the ups and downs of the cutthroat business world. He ended up becoming a Chartered Accountant for a prominent Chartered Accounting firm in West Perth before moving to the specialist tax consulting division of Arthur Andersen (Ernst Young), and later a boutique firm.
In 1992, together with Paul Skinner, Dean established Pike & Skinner Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers which would go on to grow many many times over, providing a platform to think and behave as a business owner employing many people servicing many customers. Their focus was to ensure that they used all of their knowledge to make the greatest contribution they could to help their clients achieve their dreams and also meet their challenges. In seeking to expand the scope of their advice, and develop a “one stop shop” for their clients, they established Pike Skinner Financial Services in 1995 and expanded it in 2001 when Tony Munday joined.
Pike Skinner Chartered Accountants and Pike Skinner Financial Services merged with PKF Mack in 2016.
Dean holds an Associate Diploma in Valuation, Bachelor of Business, a post Graduate Diploma in Business, is a registered Tax agent, a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a Chartered Tax Adviser with The Tax Institute and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He holds Board positions with public and private companies and community organisations.
Married with three children, Dean’s current focus outside of work and family life is golf. He approaches this game, as with all aspects of his life, with a single-minded focus on continual improvement.
