Litigation Support

PKF’s litigation support team has been successful in helping many clients resolve complex business issues and disputes.

Many legal disputes are partially or largely dependent on accounting information and Courts require a high level of expertise and assistance as commercial and financial transactions become complex. Therefore the support of a major Chartered Accountants firm to a legal team, from the early stages of a dispute through to its settlement, can be of considerable advantage.

Our litigation support team is headed by partners and senior managers who have expert knowledge concerning all accounting issues and specialist experience in providing litigation support. Their work is knowledge based, objective, independent and ethical.

Engaging PKF experts to address the financial issues allows the legal team to concentrate on the technical and legal aspects of the case. Absolute understanding and knowledge of the case is important in order for our experts to produce a competent and convincing opinion for a Court. Clear communication between our experts, the lawyers and our client ensures facts are clearly understood by all parties.

PKF has the resources to provide litigation support services on a national and international basis.

Services provided include:

General Litigation Support
General litigation support includes the quantification of losses and damages, financial investigations, loss of profit claims, and the provision of expert evidence on audit, taxation, and accountancy practices.

Experts’ Reports
Expert reports produced in connection with matters before a Court or Tribunal need to be produced to a high standard. Clear and logical presentation is necessary to ensure such reports are complete and easily understood by non-accounting individuals. Our objectivity and independence is apparent in our reports, which is necessary when producing an opinion. We also have the experience to review reports prepared by other accounting experts and assist your legal team in assessing them and preparing for cross-examination.

Acting as Expert Witness
We have partners who are experienced in acting as Expert Witnesses. They are fully aware of their obligations to the Courts in accordance to the Expert Witness Codes of Conduct.

Expert determinations, arbitrations and mediations
Our partners have the necessary qualifications and skills to conduct expert determinations, and to act as arbitrators and mediators, as a means of settling disputes.

Valuations
Our partners have the expertise to provide objective and independent valuations of shares and businesses in order to determine fair market values.

Personal Injury and Insurance Claims
These include assessments of past and future economic loss, business interruption claims and claims for professional negligence in accounting and auditing matters.

Family Law
Partners specialising in family law can assist in the preparation of statements of financial circumstances, the valuation of businesses and the provision of taxation advice on proposed settlements.
