Albert qualified as a South African Chartered Accountant in 1987 and became an audit partner in one of the big four (then big eight) accounting/audit firms in July 1990. He has a wealth of experience both within and outside the profession. During his National Service (1984 – 1985) in the South African Defence Force he served as a financial officer responsible for maintaining all the internal financial controls of a fully operational Air force Base. He was the engagement partner for two years on a newly established electrical distribution enterprise called Kescor Limited, this company was fully owned and operated by the South African government. Albert was also extensively involved in the auditing of city and town councils on behalf of the South African Auditor General during the period 1995 – 2001:
- Vereeninging Kopanong Metropolitan Council – 4 years as engagement partner - 2,200 audit hours.
- Vanderbijlpark Metropolitan Council – 3 years as engagement partner - 2,500 audit hours
- Sasolburg Metropolitan Council - 1,850 audit hours
- Approximately 18 local town councils
Since emigrating to Australia in 2002, Albert was fortunate enough to add some valuable and diversified local experience to his resume:
- Group Financial Controller for an ASX listed Company
- Senior audit manager on various ASX listed companies and various smaller company audits
- Two years experience as Senior audit manager with a big four audit firm and became internally accredited on AIFRS and US GAAP
- Senior audit manager on a town council audit on behalf of the QAO
